Once upon a time there was a
village named Hooberville. It was the most beautiful place of all! It had a lot
of green trees and bushes. It had lots and lots of animals. It had blue lakes
with a lot of fish. It had a fabulous blue sky with white and puffy clouds.
In that village there was a family
of monkeys. There was a daddy monkey, a mommy monkey, and a baby monkey named
Faboo. He had brown fur and his head and stomach was tan. He was super-sweet,
magical, and terrific. He likes to swing on the trees while eating bananas.
One day the monkey family
went to the Monkey Mall. They went to the Monkey Mall because Faboo needed some
new shoes. The shoes that he had got a hole in it. Faboo was putting some shoes
on his feet then he heard a strong wind. Faboo grabbed his mom’s arms and went
outside. A tornado was right in front of the door when they opened it. The
tornado spinned them around. Then they spinned all the way up and got sucked
into the tornado. The animals in the store panicked. There was an elephant in
the tornado and he pushed out the mom and Faboo. When they got out they flew in
different places and they got lost! Faboo felt sad because Faboo missed his
mother.
Then Faboo introduced
himself to a giraffe, crocodile, cheetah, lion, tiger and a poodle. Faboo said,
“Hello my name is Faboo. I am lost. I am four years old. Can you help me find
my mother?” The animals said, “Sure we will help you!” So they went to find
Faboo’s mother. They looked high and low but they couldn’t find her. They
looked everywhere but Faboo’s mother wasn’t found. Then there was another
tornado and the animals got caught in it. There was a unicorn in it. The unicorn
jumped up and pushed the animals out. Faboo landed in his mother’s arms. The

The Very Colorful Rainbow
One sunny day there was a
very colorful rainbow. The rainbow was having a great day until a cloud washed its
colors away with his rain! The rainbow was really sad so, the rainbow looked
for his colors. First, the rainbow checked in all the bushes in sight. Next,
the rainbow searched in every trashcan. Then, the rainbow hunted in rivers,
streams, and trees. Finally the rainbow tried to find his colors in the dirt.
The rainbow looked and looked but the rainbow couldn’t find his colors anywhere!
Then a frog came by and the rainbow asked, “Have you seen my colors?” “Yes! I
have seen your colors!” said the frog. “Where?” said the rainbow. “In the
pond,” replied the frog. The rainbow starts to smile. “Thank you!” shouted the
rainbow as the frog hopped away. After the frog was out of sight the rainbow
dashed toward the pond in search of his colors. The rainbow turned left and
turned right but not a color was in sight. After circling the pond several
times, the rainbow was convinced his colors were not there. The rainbow finally
left drooping in sadness. The rainbow had given up hope until a very colorful
turtle came by. The rainbow stared at all the wonderful colors on the turtle’s
shell. The rainbow whispered “my red, my blue, my green, my purple, my yellow,
my orange, my pink.” Then the turtle
said, “Are these your colors? I found them in the pond.” “Yes! These are my
colors,” said the rainbow. “Please take your colors back. I have taken very good
care of them,” said the turtle. With that the rainbow hugged the turtle and said,
“Thank you.” From then on the very colorful rainbow lived happily after.
The End.

The Floating Old Man
One day, an old man lived in
Los Angeles, and he was having a party, but he was drinking a lot of soda. He
started to gradually inflate and started floating. He went so up that all the
people could see him floating up in the air.
The old man went floating
all the way to Washington D. C. passing the White House, when the president
looked at him lifting his hand and saying helloooooo!
Then he continued floating
to New York, he saw very tall buildings, the Statue of Liberty and Central
Park. He thought that New York was very interesting place, the people who were
there looked at him and commented, is it a bird, a plane or a UFO? “This is
awesome!”
Next he passed through the
Atlantic Ocean and went to London, he saw a bus called the Red Double Decker
and the famous Big Ben was in the Clock Tower.
He kept on floating all around
London until, he bumped into the Tower Bridge and all the gas from the soda got
out of his stomach, falling down to the water. Someone came to rescue him, he
said to them, that he is not from there, I need to continue my traveling, so he
went to the store to get more soda to start to float again, and visit more
places in the world.
After that, the old man went
to France and he saw lots of wonderful things, such as the Eiffel Tower, and
the Cathedral of Notre Dame.
Then, he went to Rome the
capital of Italy; he saw the Stadio Olimpico and the Coliseum.
In the blink of an eye, the
old man arrived at Venice, and he was watching the gondola and a gondolier in
the Grand Canal.
The old man continued
floating all the way to China, he saw the highest mountain in the world; it was
called Mount Everest and the Great Wall of China.
He kept on floating and he
saw lots of China people. He floated and floated, passed the Japan Sea to get
to Japan. He floated passed through Hiroshima, Kawasaki to get to Tokyo, where
he saw a train called the Bullet Train at the Tokyo Station, and sumo wrestlers
battling and Japanese people watching the fight.
After the old man continued
floating until arrive to San Diego, where he never need a passport to enter the
border and saw LEGOLAND, Sea World, San Diego Zoo and all of those places were
filled with people.
The old man passed the whole
Pacific Ocean to get to Mexico, he saw mariachis playing the instruments, the
Angel of Independence Monument and the food from Mexico smelled very good, so
he began to feel hungry.
Finally, tired and hungry,
he floated back to Los Angeles, until he bumped into one of the buildings, but when
he returned to his house, he waked up and realized that he was dreaming.

The Robot
Hi am Johnny and I am twelve
years old. My parents are going out tonight to celebrate their anniversary at a
fancy restaurant and I am going to stay home alone.
My dad is a scientist and he
has a lab in the basement of our house. He is currently working on robot for
the President of the United States. The robot is going to protect the President
from danger. This project is secret and I am not allowed to tell anyone about
it. I’m not even allowed to go down to the basement.
When my parents leave I am
going to the basement to sneak a peek at the robot, fiddle with the wires to
see how it works, and leave. I don’t plan on getting caught because I will get
in big trouble with my dad.
Finally, my parents left for
their dinner date and I can now see the robot I’ve been longing to see for
months. I wonder if the robot is bullet proof, can climb up the side buildings
or what type of weapons it has? After all, it is for protecting the President.
I ran down the basement
steps and opened the door. I couldn’t believe it, it was better than I ever
imagined. The robot stood seven feet tall and looked very strong. I slowly
walked toward the robot and reached out to touch it. I carefully inspected it
from head to toe. It had a silver coating and with dull red eyes. I quickly
hurried to its back and removed the back plate exposing the control panel, which
had a series of wires coming in and out of it.
Within the control panel
there was a toggle switch, it appeared to be what activated the robot. I turned
the robot on and that was a big mistake! It began to attack me by grabbing me
and throwing me across the basement. It was coming towards me and I didn’t know
what to do, right when it was going to finish me off, my dad turned the robot
off saving my life.
I am grounded for a month
but at least I know the President will be safe. The other day, I overhead my
dad talking on the phone about building a time machine. Man, am I curious to
see that. Should I take a peek?

Back In Time
One sunny day on a 4th
grade class field trip to the museum, a young African boy named Fred, was
learning about famous Presidents. His teacher Mr. Lunter was telling his
students about how George Washington pledged to never tell a lie and how
Abraham Lincoln stopped slavery. Learning about presidents didn’t really interest
Fred. Fred wasn’t really paying attention but when Mr. Lunter stopped in front
of a big machine it captured Fred’s attention.
“This was a time machine
invented by a scientist called Leonard Clanch, also known as “Brainy.” Now it
is a mystery why Brainy invented it.” Mr. Lunter told the class. The class was
fascinated. Fred was so curious about the machine that he didn’t realize that
his class had left the room. He went looking them, but didn’t find them. He
went back to he room with the time machine. He felt he was being pulled towards
it, so he looked around to see if anyone was watching and snuck inside the
machine. There were only two seats, but tons of buttons! Fred ran his fingers
over the buttons, fascinated by them. All of a sudden the machine started
making noises! Fred must have accidentally pressed a button because a console read,
“Travel to 1863.”
Just as suddenly the machine
stopped. When Fred walked out of the machine, he didn’t know where he was. It
certainly wasn’t the museum; it wasn’t even inside a building! Then he heard
loud banging and screams. He ran towards the sounds and saw soldiers and army
horses everywhere. He stood still and just watched not understanding what was happening.
A soldier saw him and told him to run home, that he couldn’t be outside. Fred
asked him what was going on. “It is the end of the war and President Lincoln
will be speaking shortly. Now run along home child,” the soldier said.
President Lincoln? Fred couldn’t believe it.
Fred goes to the machine and
tries to figure out what to do, his parents must surely be worried, but he was
in 1863! He decided to go further back in time to see what Abraham Lincoln did
with slavery. After all he was African. He looked at the many buttons and tried
to remember which one he had pressed earlier. He turned the button and the
console read 1851. As before, the machine started making noises, and he felt
the pull of the machine.
When the machine stopped,
Fred was on what looked like a farm. He heard someone shouting “faster.”
Suddenly there was a man standing over him. “Why are you standing there? Do
your work.” Fred was surprised and scared but said, “Yes sir.” He realized the
man thought he was one of the slaves. As he did his work he saw how hard the
slaves worked and how cruel it was. He cleaned, washed dishes, planted crops,
and even helped cook food. As fascinated as he was, he couldn’t stand it any longer.
Fred snuck back to the
machine and thought about what he had experienced. He knew that President
Lincoln made slavery illegal in 1858. He felt so grateful towards the president
that he wished he lived forever. “Oh” said Fred, “I can actually save the
president’s life!” He turned the button so that it showed 1865. Fred ended up
right in front of shiny, sparkly gold letters that read “Ford’s Theatre.” Fred
went inside and saw that the time was 9:15. He found what he thought was a
phone and asked the operator to connect him to the Secret Service.
Fred had read about
President Lincoln’s assassination in his history book. He gave the Secret
Service the information anonymously and he prayed they believed him. Fred
waited for what seemed like hours. There were so many people that Fred almost
didn’t hear the commotion. He saw two men with silver handcuffs and shiny gold
badges that read “S. S.” taking a man away. Fred was so relieved and excited,
he ran towards them! “I was so afraid you wouldn’t find him and he would kill
the president.”
An hour later Fred was
coming out of the machine at the museum. He had missed his family and friends a
lot. He ran and looked for his friends and found his class eating lunch.
Years later Fred got a
letter in the mail. His eyes became big when he read the return address: Brainy.

The Little Old Wallet
Not too long ago, there
lived a little old wallet. This was not an ordinary wallet though. He was
actually quite special. He could talk and move, but you could only hear him
talk if he wanted you to. He longed to one day be bought from the thrift store
on Ricker Rd. His name was Will.
Will used to be owned by an
elderly man who donated him on a sunny Monday morning that Will remembered
perfectly. Will thought that you shouldn’t have to be new to be bought; he just
thought you needed a low price and good quality.
One day, Will was just lying
on his shelf in the shop when he noticed some shoeshine next to him. He waited
until nighttime and opened the lid with ease. He stuck his finger in the jar
and rubbed the icky stuff all over him. He thought that maybe people liked
wallets instead of worn wallets. He fell asleep and woke up to keys jingling
only about 2 rows away. He scanned the row and found a young blonde woman
looking at Cameron the candle and Ruby the rug. She picked up Cameron and
headed for checkout. Will felt as happy as a clam for Cameron.
He
looked at Nelly the needle and got an idea.
“Nelly?
Can I carve something into myself with you?” asked Will.
Nelly thought long and hard
and finally made up her mind. She nodded her head. She walked a little closer
to Will. He carved some stripes in his brown leather cover and tried to look
his best.
The next morning it was
raining cats and dogs. Will was happy it was raining. Will looked over his
shiny new stripes, he was proud. He heard the bell above the door jingle, which
meant we had a customer. He saw a brunette woman with a little girl that was
obviously begging for something.
“Fine, I’ll get you a silly
little wallet!” shouted the brunette. The little girl squealed with joy. Will
couldn’t believe his ears; he was the only wallet he knew that lived in the
shop. The pair of girls walked down aisle 7, while Will was on aisle 5. Will was
so happy that he couldn’t contain himself. He could hear the little girl squealing
from two aisles away. He finally saw the girls turn onto his aisle. He couldn’t
wait to be picked up by the little girl bursting with joy. When the girl reach
for Will, the items around him looked at him with happiness. She picked him up,
paid for him and Carol the candy bar, and eventually found himself in a town
house on Summer St. The girl grabbed him out of the car after reaching a
parking structure. She dashed inside the building to her messy bedroom quicker
than a jackrabbit. She grabbed some green strips of paper and stuffed them in
Will.
Later that week, he met a
pencil named Penny. She later became Will’s best friend. But most importantly,
Will was cared for and had a home. He lived there until the girl moved out and
had kids of her own.

My Self Reflection
I am as fearless as a tiger that proudly
struts through the green jungles of India
I show the cheerful attitude of an energetic
dolphin swimming through the deep blue sea
I am the bright happy sun on a flawless day, but when
you upset me I am the roughest of hurricanes
I own the patience of someone waiting for 106 people
to pass so that I may show my star-bright talent and skill
I am someone who casually walks upon Earth,
eager to finally be recognized
I am a devoted girl who will always believe in herself
no matter how unlikely it seems or what people say to knock me down
I am not a quitter, but a person who will never stop
until I reach my superstar, lifesaving goals
I do what I do, to have an amazing and
adventure-filled life
I am the girl who shall never stop trying…until
I finally win
