Traditional Kindergarten Registration
Transitional Kindergarten (Trans K) is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program. Students who attend Trans K in 2012-13 will attend Traditional Kindergarten in 2013-14. Starting July 2012, any child who has a birth date from November 2nd to December 2nd will only be able to enroll in a Trans K classroom. This program will only be available at several sites within our District.
Currently, the Trans K Program is part of Governor Brown’s 2012-13 budget cuts proposal. Therefore, if the State does not fund Trans K for the 2012-13 school year, we will not be able to offer this program. We will notify all parents who have registered their child for Trans K, if the program will continue to be offered, as well as your child’s school assignment, as soon as we are informed.
Traditional Kindergarten registration is open to any child who will turn 5 on or before November 1, 2012.
Registration for both programs will be held at the school to which your address is currently assigned. Schools in the Sulphur Springs School District include: Canyon Springs, Fair Oaks Ranch, Golden Oak, Leona Cox, Mint Canyon, Mitchell, Pinetree, Sulphur Springs and Valley View.
To register a child for Trans K and/or Kindergarten, it will be necessary to have the following documentation:
• A birth certificate or other official document verifying the child’s birth date.
• Immunizations: Proof of MMR (including proof of second MMR), Polio,
D.P.T., and Hepatitis B, and Varicella (Chicken Pox).

Open Enrollment
Pupil Services will accept Intra-District Transfers and Inter-District Transfers, for the 2012-13 school year, March 15 – May 15. Requests will be processed and parents will be notified of the approval/denial no later than June 15, 2012.
Transfers
Sulphur Springs School District will continue to accept Intra-District and Inter-District Transfers throughout the 2012-13 school year. Notification of approval/denial will be mailed out approximately 10 days after transfer has been turned in.
Intra-District Transfers: For families who currently reside within the Sulphur Springs School District boundaries. If you live within a school’s attendance area and wish to enroll your child in to another school within district boundaries, you may request to do so by completing an Intra-District Transfer Request form. You may obtain this form from your home school or the District Office.
Inter-District Transfers In: If you currently reside outside of the Sulphur Springs School District boundaries and wish to enroll your child in to one of our schools, please contact your home school district office for details.
