Friday Update, January 16, 2026
Good evening, Sulphur Springs Families and staff, this is Dr. Catherine Kawaguchi, your Superintendent with a Friday update, January 16, 2026.

Reminder
Transitional Kindergarten Enrollment
Full Day

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is part of the K-6 public school system. TK classrooms use developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum specifically for four-year old students.
All four-year old students are eligible for TK if the child turns 4 years old on or before September 1, 2026. The Sulphur Springs Union School District offers a full-day TK program for their students.
Information for registration, please see below:

Beginning January 20, 2026, our District will open registration for new families for the 2026–2027 school year. To help families prepare, the Deputy Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, Principals, and I will be hosting New Families’ Orientation Meetings.
New Families’ Orientation Meeting Dates / Times / Locations
All Families will have the opportunity to tour a kindergarten classroom 30 minutes before meeting start time.

As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, January 19th in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who believed in equality, freedom, and dignity for all people. His dream envisioned that all children would receive access to a quality education, and here in the Sulphur Springs Union School District, we are committed to delivering this to our children.
Wishing you and your family a wonderful three-day weekend. Thank you.
